Weekly Update 19-12-21
Seasons Greetings
Not as much news this time of the year, but a busy time for me with renewals, hence the struggle to get news updates out weekly. With Christmas next week, I might well skip an update then as well!
I was down at Neil’s twice last weekend and we called in to see Dynamic Kate as part of the shareholder Sunday visit last weekend. She is looking really well. She seems a bit miffed at being stuck on box rest, but her injury has progressed as well as we hoped it would and she should be back out exercising in the new year and she is bang on target to return to the racecourse in the Spring.
It is a mad world again right now and there are rumours in racing of some restrictions impacting us again soon on the number of owners that can attend at the racecourse. We will have to see if that proves to be the case. In the meantime, I hope that you all stay safe and healthy and that you get to celebrate Christmas in the way that you want to.
Below I will cover:
1 – Dynamic Kate
2 – Far Too Beautiful
3 – Joeys Gift
4 – Social Events
5 – Inside The Rails
6 – Runners From Our Stables

Dynamic Kate is doing really well. She should be back exercising in the New Year and her progress has been excellent. She looks good and is clearly itching to get back outside which is a good sign!
Having processed most of my renewals, I can now confirm that we have shares of Kate available to purchase. These run for the period to 31st October 2022 and are priced at £310 for a 1% share with discounted rates for 5% and 10% purchases. She has been in the first four in all four of her recent races and she will hopefully pick up where she left off in the Spring.
No problems for Far Too Beautiful who is still enjoying her break in Albury. I have not been up there for a couple weeks but she is doing well. We will bring her back to Epsom in mid-January. Her shareholding renews on 1st January, so I will be able to make shares available to new purchasers after that.
We had Joey’s Gift entered at Newbury and Exeter last week, but his gallop last Friday was very flat and he was much less enthusiastic than he has been on other work. Michael was reluctant to run him after he had worked poorly in case he was below par or sick. We decided to wait until he seemed back to form and pencilled in a race at Newbury on the 29th December. I was up on Epsom Downs yesterday to watch this week’s gallop and he went really well, pulling right away from his work partner. Siobhan who was riding was really pleased with him and felt that he had gone really well. We are therefore back on track and the race on the 29th is the target.
BG Racing shareholders also get various social opportunities. There will be a yard visit at Michael Attwater’s in Epsom on Sunday 23rd January and Far Too Beautiful should be back at the yard by then.
The Racehorse Syndicates Association is organising a syndicates golf day on Tuesday 10th May 2022 at Oxley Park Golf Club near Wolverhampton and BG Racing is entered one or two teams of shareholders in that as well.
The latest episode of Inside The Rails features an interview with Tony Hind the agent who was booking rides for William Buick’s title challenge this year. Tony was really entertaining telling us how he got into becoming an agent and how the role works. We will be recording again just after New Year with Di Arbuthnot from Retraining of Racehorses. Any support you can give in terms of listening to the podcast and telling people about it would be much appreciated. You can listen to all episodes at https://podfollow.com/inside-the-rails. On Sunday 5th December, Neil Mulhollnd had Paddy Husseys Taxi, Cremant and Fingerontheswitch all unplaced at Huntingdon. There were no runners the next day and on Tuesday 7th, Milanese Rose and Miss Jeanne Moon were unplaced at Uttoxeter for Neil. It was the same story for Hashtag Val at Lingfield the next day and for Vocal Ring and Quarter Blue at Chelmsford the next day. Neil did record a winner that day though as Lord Accord gave the yard another nice win at Taunton where Viking Ruby was unplaced later on the card. The same day saw Cabeza De Llave finish 6th for Michael Attwater which was a good performance in a competitive little race.
On Friday 10th, Neil’s Solwara One fell. Molly Carew was unplaced at Cheltenham, as was Soupy Soups and Blumen Glory at Doncaster. The star of the day though was Kansas City Chief who took his Cheltenham form figures for this season to 131 with another game frontrunning success for Neil and amateur rider Victoria Malzard. Last Saturday, Neil had Emanate unplaced at Wolverhampton as was Rock on Rita at Doncaster, but at Cheltenham, Runasimi River was 3rd.
Barnards Green ran a cracker for Neil in the bumper at Southwell on Sunday finishing 3rd. The result was however bettered by his other runner, Peltwell, who was very impressive in landing a seventh consecutive win and she has just kept on overcoming increases in her handicap rating.
On Monday, Glenview Beauty was unplaced at Plumpton for Neil and Delagate The Lady was unplaced for Michael at Chelmsford. Tuesday saw Neil’s Full of Surprises finish 2nd at Catterick and at Wincanton, Jump Over The Moon was unplaced, Brief Times was 2nd and Jaunty Soria ran well to also finish 2nd. Canada Kid was also placed, finishing 3rd.
On Wednesday, Michael did not manage to get horses in the frame at Lingfield. Breguet Boy was unplaced as were the three in the sprint, Real Estate, Lothian and Cappananty Con and it was no better on Thursday when Nordic Glory and Concierge were unplaced for Michael at Southwell.
Milreu Has at Uttoxeter and Quarter Blue at Kempton were both unplaced for Neil on Thursday and for Michael, Long Time Comin ran much better than the market suggested to finish 5th at Kempton, but Mr Moneypenny was unplaced as was Letter At Dawn at Uttoxeter.
There was another very good winner for Neil on Saturday as Planned Paradise won well at Newcastle. His speed over the final three hurdles was eyecatching and that slick jumping will be a big asset to him in the future. Sadly the same did not apply to Tango Boy who made a juddering error when in contention, which cost him any chance.
