A FRIENDLY RACING SYNDICATE WITH A GREAT TRACK RECORD
BG Racing Syndicate members are guaranteed fun, friendship and camaraderie. BG Racing has a ‘great track record’ as we’ve had runners at most of the great tracks – along with many of the smaller charming ones! We’ve had our fair share of wins and places (as well as our fair share of glasses of fizz!) at racecourses large and small across the UK as well at one winner at the Punchestown Festival in Ireland.
Perhaps the first thing to point out is that we’re not a ‘racing club’ – members own a share of syndicate horses on a percentage basis – the lowest shareholding being 1%. Join us and you immediately become a racehorse owner. You will also become part of racing’s ‘family’ – the owners, trainers, stable staff, jockeys and everybody else who contributes to The Sport of Kings.
Our syndicate is a very sharing environment. We share the highs and lows, we share the prize money, we share early morning visits to stables, lifts to the track, stable info, members badges and social events. There may be more friendly syndicates, but we reckon you’d be hard pressed to find one.
IN BRIEF, HERE’S WHAT MEMBERSHIP GETS YOU
Join BG Racing with as little as 1% share in one horse to benefit from:
WITH A NAME LIKE PHILIP, LOVING HORSES WAS A DEAD CERT
Philip is derived from the Greek name Phillipos (or Filipos) literally means ‘lover of horses’, and with an Irish Surname (where they have a pretty good record with horses), Phil Boyle is pretty well named for the job of Racing Manager.
With a background in financial services, project management and communications, Phil provides great administration, organisation and communications, ensuring that BG Racing complies with best practices.
Phil is the person you will speak to and is always available to shareholders and arranges visits to trainers’ yards and races, produces regular updates on the BG Racing horses, details of race entries and news from our stables.
HOW SHAREHOLDING WORKS
Horses are either owned by BG Racing or leased for a fixed duration and then returned to their owner. Both offer the same benefits. The only difference is that for ‘owned horses’ the share is purchased by the shareholder on joining, then sold on for them should they withdraw or if the horse is sold.
Each shareholding is operated on fixed-term (normally annual) with renewal (if applicable) at the end of that period. Shareholders of owned horses can leave at the end of the term if they wish, with their share sold on at market rates.
Owners Prizemoney (less VAT and a 10% administration fee deduction) is divided up annually by shareholding.
If a horse is owned and renewed, a professional valuation will be obtained and each owner will receive a payment in respect of any surrendered shareholding. Any sale price of the horse (after deduction of sales fees) is divided up by shareholding if / when the horse is sold.
Horses run under BG Racing ownership and colours. Shareholders will be provided with owner’s admission badges for every race that their horse runs in. Free badges (as many as can be obtained) will be allocated by random draw with each 1% owned entitling the member to one spot in the draw.
If shareholders do not get a free badge or as many free badges as requested – then where owners badges are available for purchase, these are obtained as cheaply as possible and sold to shareholders at cost price.
If annual costs are less than had been projected when calculating annual fees, then a rebate will be made at the end of the year based on shareholding. Shareholders have regular opportunities to accompany Phil on visits to the stables to see their horse and the rest of the trainer’s horses in the yard. Phil always also tries to organise shareholder social events during each year.
