There were twelve of at Leicester with myself, Lawrence, Chris, Dave, Cathy, Nigel, Gerald, Robert, John, Steve, Dibs and Paul in attendance.
Leicester provided an excellent food offering and with the weather holding for the afternoon, we had a very enjoyable visit.
We were in the last race and there was some drama as Lana and Aaron were held up in traffic meaning that Far Too Beautiful did not arrive at the course until just before 4 pm. Not the ideal turnaround, but others were in the same situation and Far Too Beautiful did seem to handle the preliminaries OK.
We were joined by our jockey Victoria Malzard and I briefed her to lead if she wanted but to settle behind the leaders if they were going to quickly early on.
Far Too Beautiful travelled down to the start well and loaded into the stalls quickly after a momentary fight with the handler!
She jumped well and was in the front rank but Victoria felt that they were going way too fast and she dropped in behind. She lost her position further in the first half of the race and ended up further back than she would have wanted to be with the benefit of hindsight.
In the home straight she was on the outside and plugging away when Victoria let her go to the right through runners and she seemed to finish well after that manoeuvre finishing 6th but only beaten a head and nose for 4th.
