BG Racing – Update 10-10-22

Plenty to talk about this week as we obviously had races for both horses last week.  Dynamic Kate was first up at Stratford and would have at least been 2nd (and probably won) but for a tumble at the last.  Thankfully she seems OK and that is main thing, however disappointing it is that we lost out on prizemoney and another possible win.

Far Too Beautiful ran at Brighton on Tuesday and she took a step in the right direction.  She did not deliver all that I hoped she would, but there were some possible mitigating circumstances for that.

Below I have covered:

1 – Dynamic Kate
2 – Far Too Beautiful
3 – Inside The Rails
4 – Runners From Our Stables

Dynamic Kate

After two wins and a second, we were looking all set for either another win or another 2nd when Dynamic Kate came down at the last.  Kate did seem OK after the fall and I am going to see her later this week.

Dynamic Kate jumped well (until she didn’t!) and was only a couple of lengths down on the tiring leader when he jumped the last flight at 45 degrees right across her.  She tried to take a slight angle left, but did not get her feet up over the hurdle and crashed to the ground.  It is hard to argue that the leader caused the fall and she may well have fallen anyway, but his change of direction must have been offputting and Kate was definitely trying to jump left to go the opposite way.

You could not be certain that Dynamic Kate would have won without the fall, but the general feeling was that she probably would have done.  The main thing was that she seemed OK, but it is galling to be robbed of another visit to the winners’ enclosure whether she had been 1st or 2nd.

She may well need a break now, but it would be nice to give her another run to hopefully rebuild her confidence if she is up to that and we will decide in the coming days.

I will be sorting out some stuff I need for Dynamic Kate’s renewal this week and I would hope to then be able to come up with renewal and new share costings for the next 12 months.

Shareholding renews from 1st November and presents a good opportunity to get into ownership with a horse that is in great form right now.  Please get in touch if you are interested to find out more!

Far Too Beautiful

It was a big step forward from her last run, but not quite what we were hoping for when Far Too Beautiful was 5th at Brighton.  She is fine though and back cantering this week.  It was great to have some shareholders that had not been racing before at Brighton.

We were hoping for soft ground, but the description was changed to good to soft on the morning of the race and it ended up being “loose ground” with the horse taking the top off as opposed to properly deep going.

Unfortunately, the race did not go to plan as we had hoped to get Far Too Beautiful up alongside the leader early on, but this did not happen and she ended up getting squeezed for room and had to switch left in the home straight.  She ran on well and grabbed fifth on the line, but was never in contention to finish in a better placing than that.  We will never know what would have happened if FTB had raced closer to the pace early in the race, but with how things went anyway, we were left wondering what might have been!

The is another race over 1m 4f at Yarmouth next Tuesday (18th October) and we will aim to run FTB here if the ground is genuinely soft (or heavy).  If it is any faster than that we think the distance would be too short for FTB to do herself justice.  There is nothing else that looks attractive on the flat though so the alternative if it is not soft there or the plan for after that race will be to switch to hurdles.  Michael is going to get Jamie Moore down for more schooling this week so that FTB is ready to go hurdling as soon as we decide to do so.

Runners From Our Stables

On 30th September, Neil Mulholland’s Peltwell was unable to land a blow at Fontwell but Princess T finished 2nd.  Sainte Doctor was unplaced on her chase debut at Fontwell the following day and Castle Quarter was unplaced at Uttoxeter on Sunday.

Dynamic Kate fell on Monday and Quarter Blue was unplaced at Wolverhampton to complete a few days that will have left Neil disappointed.

Cabeza De Llave ran well for Michael Attwater on Monday though and finished 3rd.  Mary of Modena was unplaced at Brighton on Tuesday, but Dee’s Dream ran really well to snatch 2nd on the line.  Far Too Beautiful and Acadian City were both unplaced later on the card.

There were no Wednesday runners and Jaunty Soria and Belle Na Bann were both unplaced for Neil on Thursday.  After no Friday runners, Mothill was a winner for Neil in a decent race at Chepstow on Saturday.  On Sunday, Milkwood ran well at Ffos Las but finished 2nd, whilst Ballymilan and Jump Over The Moon were both unplaced in their race.
