Dynamic Kate finished 7th at Plumpton which was a good result in terms of her development.
Neil asked Harry to jump her off in midfield and he did that, settling her in 4th place as they came down the hill to the first. We had a big scare here and Neil commented later that we were probably lucky the finish the race. Crowd of Stars put on the brakes before running left down the flight at the first. The problem for us was that Kate was just behind him on his left and he carried her sideways over the hurdle and Harry almost went out of the side door! For a horse that has hand jumping issues of her own, she did really well to stay upright and get over the hurdle, but Harry had to struggle to get his left foot back into the irons meaning she dropped right back.
Dynamic Kate was lit up by this and really pulling down the hill and it was really only the second hurdle (which she jumped fine) that caused her to drop the bit and let Harry drop his hands. She was therefore back in 7th down the home straight for the first time where she jumped the first flight nicely and she was fine at the other although she needed to put in an extra stride. Up the hill, she dropped back to 9th but still travelled OK and Harry decided to take her wide down the back straight to find some less churned up ground. She was travelling sweetly despite being a long way back and she plugged away nicely down the home straight to pass the post 7th, some 45 lengths behind the winner. This is 20 lengths closer than she was last time and came despite the chaos at the first hurdle.
All in all a positive result in terms of her development and future and with positive comments from the trainer and jockey, we are on track to have some competitive runs from her in the coming months.
