Weekly Update 03-05-21

Finally back on track with the weekly updates.  Now to try to stay there for a few weeks!

Racing News

We have had the Guineas meeting at Newmarket this weekend and the Punchestown Festival over jumps this week as well.

Both Guineas ended up being won by horses that were not at the front of the market as the 16-1 Poetic Flare took the 2000 and the 10-1 Mother Earth won the fillies classic.

At Punchestown, we saw Chacun Pour Soi bounce back with another Grade 1 win whilst Colreevy headed off to the paddocks (she is in foal) after bursting the big reputations of Monkfish and Envoi Allen.  Kilcruit reversed placings with Sir Gerhard in the bumper and they should have some great battles in novice hurdles next year if both stay sound.  Klassical Dream looked sublime in the stayers hurdle and Energumene similar in the novice chase making next year’s battles with Shishkin look mouthwatering!  Honeysuckle kept her reputation intact and Stormy Ireland won the mares grade 1 before Jeff Kidder kept up his improvement in the juvenile hurdle.  That is the end of the grade 1 jumps for a while, but there as always, there is loads to look forward to for next season.

Our Horses Update

Dynamic Kate

I visited Neil’s yard on Friday and we saw Dynamic Kate cantering.  She is fine now and starting to build back up to race fitness.

Neil noted that she was the worst of any of the horses this winter in terms of how sick she was when she was scoped which is why it has taken a couple of weeks to get her back to this stage.  She will hopefully be ready to run in 10 – 14 days fr0m now and there are a couple of options that we will look at in the middle of next week.

If you would like to get involved in what looks to be an exciting next few months, then shares are still available at £260 per 1% share covering all costs to 31st October 2021, with discounts for 5% and 10% purchases.

Far Too Beautiful

Another up and down week for Far Too Beautiful.  She missed her stalls session on Monday as she knocked a hind joint and she was confined to the walker for a couple of days.  Despite the best efforts of the team, she got some infection in the wound and it needed to be poulticed and bandaged midweek and it is still a little swollen and she is now being given some antibiotics to see if they will tackle whatever is causing the swelling.

She seems pretty sound, however, and Michael does not seem alarmed at all, so hopefully, she will be good as new in a few days!  Michael has carried on doing some stalls work with her and she seems to be improving all the time.  She did her latest stall work today and Michael messaged me to say that she had stood in very calmly with the gates closed and that she is definitely much happier with the process now.

If you want to get involved before she starts to race, then shares are £247 for a 1% shareholding covering all costs to 31st December 2021 and there are discounts for purchases of 5% and 10%.

All shareholders receive weekly updates, stable visits, owners badges when the horse runs and your share of prizemoney.  You can contact me via the website contact page if you want any more information and I will be very happy to correspond by email or schedule a call.

From The Stables

There were no runners from our yards on Monday and on Tuesday Real Estate ran a decent race for Michael Attwater and was 3rd at Brighton.  Street Parade ran into plenty of trouble in running and that cost him his chance and Music Major failed to make the frame.  The next day, Fujaira King was disappointing again at Brighton for Michael.

It was a pretty rough race for Michael’s Big Time Maybe and Something Lucky on Thursday.  Big Time Maybe finished well to come 2nd but was well adrift of the winner and Something Lucky was run out of third in the last strides as a fast finisher swept by.  On Friday at Goodwood, Concierge and Minhaaj both ran decent races for Michael, but neither was placed and Gavlar was also unplaced on Saturday.

Neil Mulholland’s only runner of the week was Emanate who was unplaced earlier today.

Inside The Rails

We launched a new episode of Inside The Rails featuring an interview with trainer Amy Murphy earlier this week.  Please give it a listen and maybe tell other people about it as well!  All episodes can be accessed at the following link: https://podfollow.com/inside-the-rails.
