BG Racing – Update 03-01-24
Happy New Year to you – and I hope that your Christmas and New Year celebrations were all enjoyable.
I am getting back into the flow now and I will be speaking to Neil Mulholland this week about Bella Cavalla’s running plans. Stryder is due to run this weekend at Wolverhampton and fingers crossed we can get him to the race and he can show some improved form.
I am also hoping to organise a couple of socials for my shareholders this month.
As ever, please get in touch if you have any questions.
Bella Cavalla is still getting ready for her first race and one of my shareholders popped in to see her this week and reported that she seems well.
She is due to do some schooling over hurdles this week and I will discuss things with Neil Mulholland in the next couple of days and we will make a plan for her first race.
Shares of her are still available with 2% for £750. Please get in touch if you are interested.
Stryder is up to plenty of mischief, as he escaped from a paddock after Christmas and then managed to knock himself in his stable this week.
Michael Attwater is monitoring this but hopes that he can run this Sunday where he has been entered at Wolverhampton in a 46-55 6f race.
This is the first of the new Sunday night racing fixtures and the prize money on offer is almost triple what you would get for a similar race on a weekday afternoon or evening. As a result, there were 203 entries at the meeting including 45 in our race, but Stryder can run as the race will divide if necessary and he is far enough up the weights that he will definitely get in if declared.
Stryder trotted yesterday with no ill effects and he is cantering today. If he is OK this evening and tomorrow, he will probably do a faster piece of work on Friday morning to check he seems fine to declare for Sunday.
Current shareholding costs are £830 for 2%, £1925 for 5% and £3550 for 10% and cover a year to 31st August 2024. Installment payments are fine, so people can pay monthly if this suits them better.
The latest episode of Inside The Rails launched on 1st January featuring an interview with Richard Johnson who was champion jump jockey on four occasions and would have been on another sixteen occasions if not for being in the same era as AP McCoy!
You can listen by searching for Inside The Rails on any podcast app or by clicking the link below and if you know anyone who might like the podcast, please also tell them about it!

Neil had a pair of Boxing Day winners. They came at Fontwell and Sedgefield which justified Neil sending runners all over the country!
At Fontwell, Hobb’s Delight was a winner in a dead heat whilst things were easier for Mothill who won fairly comfortably by a couple of lengths.
Neil also started 2024 with a winner on New Year’s Day when Abbeyhill won at Catterick.
If you are interested in finding out more about racehorse ownership, then please get in touch as I would be delighted to discuss things with you.
Bella Cavalla is £750 for a 2% shareholding including all costs to 30th June 2024 and Stryder is £830 for 2% covering the period to 31st August 2024. Standing order payments can be made to spread the cost and shareholders get regular email updates along with the chance to come to the stables with me as well as to the races. There are also shareholder social events during the year.
