BG Racing – Update 04-06-26
Busy times at the moment. It was great that Twist of Fatecatch ran well on his debut for us and picked up some prize money. He should run again in about 10 days.
I also have details of a possible new horse, and there are updates on a couple of our former horses.
After a couple of entries that were not taken up due to firmer ground, we finally got Twist Of Fatecatch onto the racecourse on Friday 22nd May at Worcester. He started favourite, so it was easy to hope that he might win, but he ran well to finish 3rd, and he was well clear of the 4th, so it was hard to be disappointed with that.
He won a bit of prize money, and the good news was that he came out of the race well and is ready to run again.
There is a suitable race at Uttoxeter on Tuesday 23rd June, and that is his target.
He is leased for the summer until 31st October. A 2% share is £580, covering all costs to the end of October, and you will already have some prize money due back to you from his first run! Shareholders will get badges when he runs if they want to come racing, and can come and visit Neil Mulholland’s stables in Bath.
If you are interested in being part of the summer fun, please get in touch.
I have the chance to acquire a new horse for BG Racing that I am interested in, but I need to gauge interest before I proceed. The reason is that this will require an up-front purchase cost, and I will not be able to afford being stuck with a large number of shares.
The horse is a son of Logician, who won the Great Voltigeur and the St Leger in 2019. I remember watching him during his racing career and feeling that he would make a brilliant jumps sire as he was really well built and strong and looked more like a jumper than a flat horse. He will be having his first progeny on the track this season, and they have been selling well at the sales.
The cost of the horse will be £30k (which I think is a fair price given recent sales), so £600 purchase for a 2% share. The likelihood is that we would agree a fixed ownership term, probably two or three years, with the horse to be put through the sales at the end of that period unless we agree to sell earlier or we agree to leave him in training. Nothing is set in stone, but he would probably start in bumpers this year and go hurdling in year two.
Shareholding would cost approximately £1400 for 2% in year one and approximately £800 per annum thereafter. I can also offer discounts for larger share purchases (5% and above)
If this is of interest, please get in touch, and I will provide more information.
He is a lovely big horse 16h 1 and looks strong.
Oh, and in case it makes any difference(it will to some people!) – he is a grey like his dad!
I have recently received updates on two of our former horses. The first update was for Bella Cavalla.
She has recently been in her first dressage competition, and she came 2nd. Her new owner was very proud of her and reported that she behaved impeccably.
The second update was for The Way You Dance, who is still being ridden as a hack on Epsom Downs. We received a recent photo of him, and he is obviously being well looked after!
You will probably be aware that I host a monthly podcast to promote shared ownership.
We have just launched another episode of the Inside The Rails podcast with an interview with Laura Horsfall, a jumps trainer.
Please have a listen and share the details with your friends.

If you are interested in finding out more about racehorse ownership, then please get in touch, as I would be delighted to discuss things with you.
Standing order payments can be made to spread the cost of share purchases, and shareholders get regular email updates along with the chance to come to the stables with me as well as to the races. There are also shareholder social events during the year.
