BG Racing – Update 12-05-22
Another busy week as I was at Michael Attwater’s yard last Thursday with a new BG Racing shareholder and then I was down at Neil Mulholland’s on Friday where I was accompanied by a group of shareholders. Information on both horses is below.
There is also a report from the Racehorse Syndicates Association Golf Day which was in Wolverhampton yesterday. Spoiler alert – BG Racing is the 2022 Champion Golf Syndicate!
Below I have covered:
1 – Dynamic Kate
2 – Far Too Beautiful
3 – RSA Golf Day
4 – Inside The Rails
5 – Runners From Our Stables
If this update gets you interested in ownership, then I would love to hear from you. Click here for details of shareholder benefits and information on how to get involved.
Kate is really well. She looks bigger and stronger than last year and she is progressing well in her work. Shannon who rides her every day says that Kate is feeling better than she has ever been and she is almost ready to run.
Neil and I sat down to discuss races and identified two possible options for her. The first is at Southwell on Tuesday 24th May and the second is at Ffos Las on Saturday 28th May. With her rating it is sometimes hard to get her into races, so we will probably try both options and run where we think she will get in.
The race at Ffos Las is restricted to fillies and mares, so she has a better chance of getting in there.
I do have shares of Kate available to purchase and these run for the period to 31st October 2022. They are priced at £310 for a 1% share with discounted rates for 5% and 10% purchases.
She has been in the first four in all four of her recent races and she will hopefully pick up where she left off when she gets back on the racecourse.
I was up at Michael’s last week and Far Too Beautiful had not given any further signs of being in season other than a couple of days after her disappointing race. That was a possible explanation for her performance though.
She was back working and seemed to be going well. Over the weekend and early this week, however, two different riders reported that she had seemed a bit flat in her work and not really tackled it with any enthusiasm, but a jockey came in on Wednesday and she did everything well and picked up and quickened nicely when asked.
We discussed possible races last week and identified a race at Nottingham next Tuesday and one at Lingfield on Thursday. The entries closed for Nottingham this week and we decided not to enter her there as the forecast ground is still quite fast even with some rainfall. We will look at Lingfield before entries close on Friday and make a decision on that race then.
I have shares available at a cost of £273 per 1% share covering the period to 31st December 2022. Please contact me via the contact page if you would like more information.
The Racehorse Syndicates Association Golf Day took place this week up in Wolverhampton at Oxley Park Golf Club.
The BG Racing team was myself, Paul Northcott, Dibs Clark and Guy Spragg. We were all similar in our handicap levels, so formed a good partnership as we were able to motivate each other. It was the best two scores to count on each hole and although we all had issues at different times, we kept them apart and ensured that we had two decent scores on every hole.
We were first on the course and therefore had to wait for everyone else to finish before we learned where we had finished. Guy was unable to stay on for the presentations as he is a cricket coach and had to get back to take charge of his Under 13s team, but as the scores came in, it became clear that we were well ahead of the field and we took the first-ever RSA Golf Championship.
We are pictured below receiving the trophy from RSA Chairman, Dan Abraham.

The May episode of Inside The Rails features an interview with Chris Dixon who is a racing TV pundit, jockey agent, race planner and syndicate manager. He was a really nice guy and really interesting. This episode and all previous episodes can be downloaded at https://podfollow.com/inside-the-rails. Back on 28th April, Eagles First for Neil and Real Estate for Michael were both unplaced as was Luv U Mum for Michael the next day. The month ended with Neil’s runners, Paddy Husseys Taxi and Lord Accord both unable to make the frame in their respective races.
After no runners on the 1st, Ragamuffin ran a decent race at Warwick for Neil to finish 2nd on the 2nd and it was another 2nd for Michael when Street Parade filled that place at Bath. His other runner, Ard Up, was unplaced.
On the 3rd, Michael’s Savoy Brown probably bumped into a well-handicapped horse at Lingfield. He went clear turning in but was run down by the winner in the last furlong with the two finishing well ahead of the 3rd. Battle Point was unplaced on the same card.
There was no joy on the 4th for Neil as Norman Kindhu was the best placed of his three runners finishing 5th, with Full Aux Rois and Hashtag Val further back in their respective races.
Last Thursday, Rhubarb Bikini was unplaced for Michael at Chelmsford. For Neil, Milanese Rose nearly placed finishing 4th at Huntingdon where Viking Ruby and The Bold Thady were both also unplaced. At Worcester, Southfield Megan and Agent Saonois were unplaced. Planned Paradise would surely have won but for diving at the last and all but falling. He recovered to finish 2nd, but gave the win to his closest rival as there was no time to recover from the mistake. Doncesar De Pretot ran a solid race to finish just outside the places before Rookie Trainer ensured Neil did get one winner from his large number of runners. He battled well to just get ahead on the run in for a very nice priced win.
After no runners on Friday, Milkwood and Peltwell were unplaced in the Swinton Handicap Hurdle for Neil. For Michael at Ascot, Tadreeb was unable to get competitive, but Concierge came with a good late run which was not quite enough to overhaul the leader and he was 2nd at decent odds. Minhaaj was unplaced, but Vandad was just behind the leaders and made it into a minor place that would have earned an each-way return from some bookies.
Neil managed two winners in Jersey on Sunday but his British runner, Sainte Doctor was unplaced. Castle Quarter was third in a small field at Southwell on Monday before Neachells Bridge finished 4th later on the card. Simply Sin filled the same place at Wolverhampton. Lawn Ranger weakened and was unplaced at Windsor for Michael and Maahi Ve was unable to make the frame on Tuesday.
