BG Racing – Update 18-04-26

Introduction

I have sent plenty of communications to BG Racing shareholders in respect of Don’t Call Me Sue, but with only one horse at the moment, there seemed to be no need to send all shareholder updates, as everyone was getting the horse-specific communications.  The downside of that, however, is that I used all shareholder communications as a basis for website posts, so I realise now that it has been a very long time since I made an update.

I therefore intend to start issuing these again on a more regular basis going forward!

Don’t Call Me Sue

If you are not aware, then I have sad news to report in that after two runs in national hunt flat races, we entered Don’t Call Me Sue to run in a hurdle at Taunton where she broke a log and had to be put down.

Losing her was the worst experience I have had since I got involved in ownership, and I am sure that this would also be the case for most of the BG Racing shareholders.

Since this time, I have communicated generic settlement details, and I am currently issuing individual emails to shareholders.  We have a new horse lined up for BG Racing and I am hoping that many of the shareholders will want to stay involved although obviously I will understand those that decide not to given their experience with Susie.

Twist Of Fatecatch

Neil Mulholland got in touch a couple of weeks ago to tell me that the owner of one of his horses was looking for someone to lease the horse for the summer season.

Neil reported that the horse is ready to run, loves summer ground and could win plenty of prizemoney in the coming months if he stays fit.

Twist of Fatecatch is a 6-year-old. He won a maiden this time last year and was placed in two handicaps after that. He had a winter break as he needs decent ground, and he returned to racing at Wincanton when he was 4th.

Neil thinks he will come on for that, and he will be ready to run in the next couple of weeks.

Neil thinks that he will be an excellent one to own this summer, and he was delighted that he was able to send this one our way.

I have spoken to his owner, who is happy to let us have the horse for the summer (until 31st October).  During that time, I will look for another horse for the next jumps season and beyond, but I think that Twist of Fatecatch will give us plenty of chances to go racing and hopefully have some success.

I am quite excited to get this one into BG Racing, and I think we will have fun with him in the next few months.

Far Too Beautiful

Many of you will remember our horse, Far Too Beautiful, who went back to her breeder on retirement and who has had a couple of foals since then. She is at a stud near Woburn and is in great form, really settled and very happy.

She has not had a foal this year, but has a yearling by Mohaather, who looks nice and who will hopefully sell well at the yearling sales in the autumn.

I have recently been able to share some photos of her with the BG Racing shareholders.

Inside The Rails

You will probably be aware that I host a monthly podcast to promote shared ownership.

Latest episodes have featured interviews with Marco Ghiani, Tom Marquand and Hollie Doyle, and they can all be downloaded using the link below.

Please have a listen and share the details with your friends.

Get Involved

If you are interested in finding out more about racehorse ownership, then please get in touch, as I would be delighted to discuss things with you.

Standing order payments can be made to spread the cost of share purchases, and shareholders get regular email updates along with the chance to come to the stables with me as well as to the races. There are also shareholder social events during the year.
