BG Racing – Update 22-08-22
That week was one of the good ones! It is one thing to say that I thought Dynamic Kate can win a race when the race is run to suit, but watching her saunter clear to a 14-length win was more than I could have hoped for. The overwhelming feeling for me was that of delight for all the shareholders of Dynamic Kate who have supported me by getting involved with BG Racing. It was great to hear from so many of them after the race and see the obvious happiness that her winning brought to them. It would be just amazing if it happened, but we have an opportunity to do it all again tomorrow if she can repeat her great run!
Now I need to see if I can get Far Too Beautiful to deliver a win to her shareholders as well.
Below I have covered:
1 – Dynamic Kate
2 – Far Too Beautiful
3 – Inside The Rails
4 – Runners From Our Stables

What a day we had last Thursday. Thomasina Eyston gave Kate a great ride and rides again for us at Worcester tomorrow. There were six of us at Fontwell. We were in race two and Kate was late into the paddock as Neil needed to saddle two having had a runner in the first race as well!
Dynamic Kate was jumped off last to let her find her own rhythm over the hurdles. She jumped well through the first circuit and moved through to midfield. Coming down the home straight for the penultimate time, Dynamic Kate jumped through to take 3rd or 4th and as they left the back straight for the last time, she moved up alongside the leader and looked to be going the better of the two. As they entered the home run, Kate looked to be going by far the best and she went to the lead still on the bridle two out. She popped the last flight and moved away impressively on the run-in to leave us stunned as she recorded a 14-length win!
As well as the prizemoney, we also have prizes from Fontwell which will be balloted and presented to shareholders.
With Kate likely to go up in the handicap tomorrow morning and with the fact that she does not receive a weight penalty for winning last week, we decided to run her again tomorrow at Worcester. This might come a bit quickly for her, but she seems fine, did not have a hard race on Thursday and she will never have such a low weight compared to her rivals again in the future, so we are giving it a try!
I went to see Far Too Beautiful on Friday and she seems fine and happy. The riders have reported that she is just not quite sparkling on the gallops but there appears to be nothing physically wrong. Michael is not sure whether she just is not enjoying the fast conditions on the gallops and wants to see if she goes better on the softer gallop that is opening at Epsom next week.
We are still waiting on the ground for her though. There is no soft ground forecast for the next week, but we are monitoring this and will make entries when she looks likely to get her conditions. Hopefully, she will be sparkling on the gallops by then.
We launched the August episode of Inside The Rails at the start of the month with an interview with Betfair founder and leading breeder, Andrew Black and we are recording this week with William Derby the Clerk of the Course and CEO at York Racecourse.
Search for Inside The Rails on Google, Apple, Spotify or Amazon podcasts (or anywhere else you listen to podcasts) and if you are able to recommend the podcast to anyone you know that might be interested, that would be appreciated.
On the 11th, Michael Attwater’s Tadreeb was unplaced. After no runners from our yards on the 12th, No Fixed Charges was unplaced for Neil Mulholland on Saturday 13th. Yagood was 2nd for Neil last Sunday and My Joker was unplaced for Michael. On Monday, Dead Right was unplaced for Neil at Bangor and Sevenofus was also unplaced. For Michael, Maahi Ve and Lothian missed the places as did Thismydream.
There were no runners on Tuesday, but on Wednesday, Neil had a winner. Glajou was 2nd at Worcester and Universal Island was midfield, but Neil’s third runner of the card threw in a surprise. Translink coming home in front at 20-1!
Dynamic Kate kept Neil’s winners going on Thursday when in fact he had a double. Ragamuffin was 2nd in a 2-horse race and in Dynamic Kate’s race, Norman Kindhu was not in the places and nor was Miss Jeanne Moon later on. Belle Na Bann was last up though and was able to get to the front on the run-in for a 2nd winner of the afternoon.
Masterdream ran a decent race to be 3rd in a seven-runner field at Salisbury for Neil on Friday and on Saturday, Hidden Depths was unplaced at Newton Abbot for Neil, Cappananty Con ran well for Michael but was 2nd while Dees Dream outran her odds but was outside the paying places.
The period ended however with a winner for Michael. Battle Point led for a long while but dropped away to finish 3rd in the last furlong when he was tackled by stablemate Cabeza De Llave. The latter battled on well to record a one-length win.
