BG Racing – Update 25-01-24
An excellent run from Stryder to finish 2nd on Sunday night and in a race where the prizemoney was good as well! I am hoping that Bella Cavalla will make her debut at Fontwell on Sunday or at Wincanton next week and it would be great if she could also run well.
As ever, please get in touch if you have any questions.
Last Saturday, I took a group of shareholders to Lingfield Races. We were well looked after in the hotel restaurant for a breakfast buffet which was very enjoyable and then had access to the Syndicate Lounge on the racetrack with complimentary tea and coffee during racing. We went out to the viewing steps as a group for each race. It was an excellent afternoon.
We are having another event this weekend at Neil Mulholland’s Bath stables. We are visiting the yard and are then booked in for breakfast nearby.
It might then be necessary to drive to Fontwell if Bella Cavalla is running there!
After missing an abandoned Wincanton meeting, I thought that it looked unlikely that Bella Cavalla would get into a race at Huntingdon this afternoon, although it turned out that she would have. Neil Mulholland, our trainer, decided to take her up to Lambourn on Tuesday for experience of both travel and running on turf and that meant that she missed that race anyway.
She is entered at Fontwell on Sunday, but could also wait for a race at Wincanton next Thursday (1st Feb). She should get into the Fontwell race if Neil wants to run there and declarations are tomorrow morning when a final decision will be made.
It is not too late to get involved in ownership of her and come racing. Shares of her are still available with 2% for £750. Please get in touch if you are interested.
We had a great result for Styrder at Chelmsford on Sunday when he finished 2nd and only beaten a neck. It is easy to feel that we might have won, but with five horses only a length apart, I would rather focus on 2nd being a positive especially as 2nd place prizemoney is more than we would have got for winning a lot of races!
The conditions were pretty bad for racing with very strong winds indeed. With a gale-force headwind in the back straight and a similar tailwind in the home straight, it proved hard for horses to come from behind at the end of the race.
The race went as well as it could have done for Stryder. He broke well from the gates, was able to get some shelter from the two leaders that tacked over and he was close enough to launch a challenge in the home run. Jack Mitchell gave him a great ride and was perfectly positioned throughout the race.
It was nice to win some prizemoney and this is held to be paid out to shareholders at the end of the current ownership period.
Stryder was a bit stiff the morning after the race and we will give him three or four weeks to recover before running again in mid-February.
You can still get involved in ownership of Stryder with a cost to cover purchase and training fees to 31st August 2024. Let me know if you want some details.

Two winners for Michael Attwater to report on this time. The often frustrating Ajrad won for Michael at Lingfield on Sunday 14th January and Michael followed that up the next day when a busy day yielded a winner with his last runner. Smasher bounced back to form with a win after a couple of the earlier runners had been placed.
If you are interested in finding out more about racehorse ownership, then please get in touch as I would be delighted to discuss things with you.
Bella Cavalla is £750 for a 2% shareholding including all costs to 30th June 2024 and shareholding of Stryder can also be purchased covering the period to 31st August 2024. Standing order payments can be made to spread the cost and shareholders get regular email updates along with the chance to come to the stables with me as well as to the races. There are also shareholder social events during the year.
