BG Racing – Update 27-05-22

It may be a while since my last website update, but I seem to have issued plenty of communications to shareholders in the interim as both horses have been busy. I wanted to get this posted ahead of the weekend as tomorrow will be a long day with a trip to Ffos Las and back!

Below I have covered:
1 – Dynamic Kate
2 – Far Too Beautiful
3 – Royal Ascot
4 – Inside The Rails
5 – Runners From Our Stables

If this update gets you interested in ownership, then I would love to hear from you.  Click here for details of shareholder benefits and information on how to get involved.

Dynamic Kate

It has been a bit of an on, off and on again fortnight with Dynamic Kate.  We were looking at a race at Southwell and one at Ffos Las for her return from her break.  Almost as soon as we had decided to run at Southwell, the ground got too firm and we decided on Ffos Las instead!

We have now declared Dynamic Kate for the Ffos Las race which takes place at 7.30 pm tomorrow evening.  Neil has booked Adam Wedge to ride for us and there are 11 runners.

Fingers crossed that she can give a good account of herself and give us something to cheer.

I do have shares of Kate available to purchase and these run for the period to 31st October 2022.  They are priced at £310 for a 1% share with discounted rates for 5% and 10% purchases.

Far Too Beautiful

Far Too Beautiful ran her second race of the season at Lingfield last week.

There were eight runners and Far Too Beautiful conceded weight to her rivals.  Her run was definitely a step in the right direction and it was good to see her get competitive and finish third.  We earned some prize money and importantly were left feeling that she could win races this summer.

She seems in good form at home and the challenge now is nominating her next target!  There are two races at Wetherby on 7th June and one at Nottingham and one at Yarmouth on the 9th.  We suspect Yarmouth will be too firm (14f race) and the only 16f race is an apprentice race at Wetherby which is of course a long trip!  We will probably look at all four and pick the best option nearer the time and some rain in the midlands or north in the coming days would be helpful.

I have shares available at a cost of £273 per 1% share covering the period to 31st December 2022.  Please contact me via the contact page if you would like more information.

Royal Ascot

We have a bit of a BG Racing treat for Royal Ascot this year with a friend generously making a Royal Ascot package available to me for the 2nd day of the 2022 meeting on Wednesday 15th June.  The package is for hospitality in The Villiers Club which is a private area in the heart of The Village in the centre of the racecourse.  This area is less formal than the grandstands, so it is jackets and ties rather than morning dress.  The Villiers Club offers trackside viewing area and free seating & occasional tables inside and out.  There will be a complimentary welcome drink and then free beer, wine and soft drinks all afternoon and free racecards and racing papers.

There will be tapas-style food, mini desserts and ice cream pots and then an afternoon tea.  At the end of racing, there is a gourmet “build your own burger” station operating.  The club opens at 10.30 am and there will be the opportunity to watch the Royal Procession and all the afternoon action.  The club closes about half an hour after the last race although the rest of the village is open until 9 pm.   There will be 10 BG Racing shareholders attending and we should have a brilliant afternoon.

Inside The Rails

We recorded the June episode of Inside The Rails earlier today and were joined by Mike Maher who runs Turftrax, who design the going stick which is used to try to scientifically measure the ground at our racecourses.  Hopefully, this will be launched next week and the new episode and all previous episodes of the podcast can be downloaded at https://podfollow.com/inside-the-rails.  Please give us a listen and recommend the podcast to anyone you know that might be interested.

Runners From Our Stables

It was yet another winner for Neil Mulholland back on Sunday 15th May when at Stratford where Ragamuffin came out on top.  It was nearly another double as Viking Ruby finished a close 2nd as well!  Full Aux Rois was only just behind the placed horses in 4th.

There were no runners from our yards the next day and on Tuesday 17th, Belle Na Bann and True Romance were unplaced for Neil.  All three of Michael Attwater’s runners ran well without winning.  Cabeza De Llave stayed on strongly as expected but missed the places as he was just behind Michael’s other runner, My Joker who was 3rd.  Big Time Maybe ran his usual solid race and was close up, but did not make the places.

The next day, Paddy Husseys Taxi, Masterdream and No Fixed Charges were unplaced for Neil as were Breguet Boy and Savoy Brown for Michael.  Beauen Arrows did grab 3rd place close to home though.  The 19th saw Eagles First unplaced at Wolverhampton for Neil, but Michael had a good day as first Far Too Beautiful put in a better performance to finish 3rd in her race and then Mary of Modena held on to win by the narrowest of margins later on the card.

Win doubles have been a pretty common occurrence for Neil in recent weeks and he had another one on Friday 20th.  Quarter Blue was unable to make the places at Bath and at Worcester, Blumen Glory was unplaced.  Doncesar De Pretot was a very impressive winner though, coming well clear of his rivals and in the last, Rock on Rita was the more fancied runner from the yard and turning for home she looked a likely winner before staying on at one place and finishing just outside the places.  In front, however, was Jaunty Soria who shrugged off an absence from the track to battle on well for the win.  Tadreeb was unable to get competitive at Goodwood for Michael.

After no Saturday runners, Milanese Rose was 3rd for Neil at Fakenham on Sunday.  The Bold Thady ran a decent race for Neil at Huntingdon on Monday, finishing 2nd, but Just Henny was not able to make the places later on the card and it was the same story for Planned Paradise.  Michael had Lawn Ranger at Windsor, but he was also unable to place.

On Tuesday, Emanate was unplaced at Bath for Neil.  Thismydream ran well at Bath, but one of the newcomers looked quite smart and relegated Michael’s runner to 2nd.  At Lingfield, Lothian was unable to make the frame before we had no runners from the yards on Wednesday or Thursday.
