BG Racing – Update 27-10-22

First up, my apologies for the fact that it has been 17 days since the last “weekly” update.  Things have been stupidly busy for me for some reason and I have been trying to get this out for well over a week already before only just getting it to the top of my task list.

I have of course kept my shareholders updated, it was the website updates that slipped!

Below I have covered:

1 – Dynamic Kate
2 – Far Too Beautiful
3 – Inside The Rails
4 – Runners From Our Stables

If this update gets you interested in ownership, then I would love to hear from you.  Click here for details of shareholder benefits and information on how to get involved.

Dynamic Kate

Dynamic Kate is confined to her box right now as she was quite sore after her fall.  The vet gave her a full check-over and found nothing that caused concern, but he felt that she should have three weeks or so of box rest to allow her to make a full recovery.

With that in mind, we have decided that now is the right time to give her a winter break.  She will not like the very soft winter ground anyway and she can have the rest of this month and November and December off before starting training again in January.  This will allow Neil Mulholland to build her up slowly ahead of getting her back to the racecourse in the Spring when she can race through to the end of October all being well.  It is a shame that we cannot get another run from her, but her long-term well-being is always the number 1 priority and this is clearly the right thing to do.

She will be at the yard for us to spoil her over the winter though and shareholders can see her when we go down for our Christmas stable visit and lunch.

Shareholding renews from 1st November and presents a good opportunity to get into ownership with a horse that is in great form right now.  Please get in touch if you are interested to find out more!

Far Too Beautiful

We struggled to find some soft ground for Far Too Beautiful and had to reject a flat race at Yarmouth and a hurdle at Fontwell as it was not soft enough.  We ended up at Chepstow this week in quite a hot race, but unfortunately, everyone wants some cut in the ground at this time of the year and all the top yards have runners in almost every suitable race.

Far Too Beautiful handled the travel well and aside from one jumping error she hurdled really well.  She was further back than we would have liked but she did get very tired at the end of the race. She was only about 10 lengths adrift of the leaders on the home turn, but she started to look tired at the top of the straight and did not have any more to give.  Our jockey, Harry Reed, was very upbeat after the race and felt that she had jumped well, but over this distance on what was proper soft jumping ground, she had just got tired at the end of the race.  He felt that she could definitely be competitive over hurdles once she gets into the right grade of race.

Hopefully she can run again next month.

Inside The Rails

We recorded another Inside The Rails podcast yesterday and chatted with two-time champion jockey, Paul Hanagan.  Paul joined us from Bahrain where he has just arrived to ride through the winter for Sheikh Issa.  Paul was a really nice guy and I think it is a good listen.  The podcast should go live next Tuesday (1st November), so please give us a listen and please tell your friends!

Runners From Our Stables

Back on 10th October, True Romance and Chelsea Annie finished just outside the place positions for Neil Mulholland and his other runner, Cowboy, was also unplaced.  For Michael Attwater, Concierge and Lawn Ranger were unplaced.  Amerighi made a decent debut, finishing midfield but Long Time Comin was well beaten.

The next day, Molliana finished just outside the places for Neil and on the 12th, Bear To Dream was unplaced for Michael.  There were no runners on the 13th and Rhubarb Bikini was pulled up for Michael on the 14th.

Saturday 15th, saw Miss Shirley unplaced for Michael at Wolverhampton and for Neil, Rock on Rita was unplaced.  Planned Paradise was 3rd in a small field at Newton Abbot, where Watergrange Jack was 4th, but Man of the Sea was the star of the show for Neil winning at 11-1.

No runners on Sunday 16th and for Neil, Agent Saonois was unplaced and Milanese Rose and Universal Order were 2nd and 3rd beaten by the outsider of the field in their race on Monday 17th when Lawn Ranger was just out of the places for Michael and Maahi Ve ran well again but found one too good in finishing 2nd.

Cabeza De Llave was unplaced for Michael at Kempton on Tuesday 18th as were Carolines Charm, Sainte Doctor and Blue Suede Shoes for Neil the next day.  Lothian ran well from a bad draw for Michael at Kempton though finishing 2nd.  No runners on the 20th and Masterdream never got into contention on the 21st with Neil’s runner finishing unplaced.

Last Saturday saw a lovely run and a great win from Lord Accord for Neil at Cheltenham.  He traveled beautifully and looked like the winner coming down the hill as long as he stayed the distance back up to the finishing line which he did really well to record a nice win.  Hashtag Val was unplaced at Ffos Las for Neil on Sunday though and there were no Monday runners.  Tuesday saw Far Too Beautiful unplaced and The Bold Thady, Sevenofus and Of Corse I Can were all unplaced for Neil.  The period ended with Ballymilan running a decent race and finishing 3rd in a small field at Chepstow for Neil who had Cowboy unplaced at Kempton.
