Fred, Tony, Cliff and Cath were at Kempton for Silver Imperial’s race as Phil was over at Fontwell with Dynamic Kate who ran the same day.

We were straight into the action as Silver Imperial ran in the opening content at 4.10 and the preliminaries went very well.  Luke Morris was riding for us and Silver Imperial was very professional in the paddock and on the way to start before loading easily into the stalls and standing in quietly whilst there was a short delay.

She jumped very well when the gates opened and went forward to sit alongside the leader.  Turning away from the stands she looked pretty much flat out for a few strides, but she came back onto the bridle down the back straight as the pace slowed a little and she was still sat 2nd as they started the turn for home.

Unfortunately halfway around the turn, the writing was on the wall as she came under pressure and started to fall back through the field.  With two furlongs to go and her chance gone, Luke dropped his hands and let her come back in her own time which saw her well beaten.

Luke reported to Michael Attwater afterwards that she did not stay the 12f trip when ridden aggressively early and he expressed concern over whether she might struggle to go the early pace in a shorter race which was not good news and left us with a decision to make regarding her future.
