Weekly Update 06-12-21

It has been a busy couple of weeks sorting out renewals for Dynamic Kate and getting the agreement in place for us to lease part of Joey’s Gift.  I ended up leasing 40% of Joey’s Gift and hopefully, we will have some fun with him over the winter.

I saw Dynamic Kate earlier this week and she seems well and Far Too Beautiful seemed happy when I visited her at the stud in Albury.

Below I will cover:
1 – Dynamic Kate
2 – Far Too Beautiful
3 – Joeys Gift
4 – Social Events
5 – Inside The Rails
6 – Runners From Our Stables

If this update gets you interested in ownership, then I would love to hear from you.  Click here for details of shareholder benefits and information on how to get involved.

Dynamic Kate

Dynamic Kate is fine.  I was down at Neil’s last Monday and went around to the rehab yard to see Kate.  She is still on box rest and with poor light and being unable to use flash, the photos were all blurred and unusable, but she is well and enjoyed a few carrots.  Her leg seems to have healed well from the operation and whilst she is not going out to exercise yet, she is happy and looks well.

Far Too Beautiful

I went down to Albury last week to see Far Too Beautiful.  She has settled in there and seems happy.  She is fed twice a day and brought into stables overnight, but rugged up and turned out in paddocks during the day.  The stud has loads of paddocks stretching all the way up the hill and I took some pictures of Far Too Beautiful which I sent to shareholders last weekend.  She will be at the stud until the middle of January when she will come back to Epsom to prepare for next season.  I don’t think I mentioned previously that she was dropped another 2lb for her last run and is now rated 62.  She will be well handicapped if we can get her back displaying the form she showed on debut.

Joeys Gift

I managed to get enough interest to take a 40% shareholding in Joeys Gift for December and he will make his debut over hurdles in mid-December.  All is going well, he has been schooling over hurdles and working on the gallops and I have sent videos to shareholders.  He looks much stronger than he was last year when he ran in NH Flat races.  Having run in bumpers, Joeys Gift can run in novice and maiden hurdles that are restricted to horses that have not run on the flat.  The advantage is that these races are less competitive and give him a better chance, but the downside is that there are not many to choose from.  Michael is looking at races at Newbury and Exeter in mid-December as the best starting options for him.

Social Events

BG Racing shareholders also get various social opportunities.  We will be at Neil Mulholland’s yard next Sunday morning for a stable visit and Christmas lunch and then there will be a yard visit at Michael Attwater’s in Epsom on Sunday 23rd January.  Far Too Beautiful should be back at the yard by then.

The Racehorse Syndicates Association is organising a syndicates golf day on Tuesday 10th May 2022 at Oxley Park Golf Club near Wolverhampton and BG Racing is entered one or two teams of shareholders in that as well.

Inside The Rails

We recorded a new episode of Inside The Rails this week and interviewed Tony Hind the agent who was booking rides for William Buick’s title challenge this year.  Tony was really entertaining telling us how he got into becoming an agent and how the role works.  I learned loads and had fun doing so!  Any support you can give in terms of listening to the podcast and telling people about it would be much appreciated.  You can listen to the new episode and all the previous episodes at https://podfollow.com/inside-the-rails.  Please also follow @InsideTheRails on Twitter if you are on there.

Runners From Our Stables

There was a nice winner for Neil Mulholland back on Wednesday 17th November when Chinwag won at Ffos Las.  Molly Carew ran well in the same race but was outside the places, as was Winged Isle, Canada Kid and Eagles First.  Viking Ruby kept up the good form of Neil’s runners the following day, sneaking into a place at decent odds, but Harptree Hill was unplaced.  Hidden Depths was unplaced at Ascot on Friday with an awkward jump at the second last possibly costing him his chance.

On Saturday 20th, Rookie Trainer was unplaced for Neil at Huntingdon and My Kind of Lady was unplaced at the same track for Michael.  My Joker led for a long way at Lingfield but faded late to be unplaced for Michael and Maahi Ve never got into contention being stuck out of position all the way.  On Sunday, Novis Adventus and Planned Paradise were unplaced for Neil at Uttoxeter as was Fingerontheswitch.  The latter was in a race won by Neil’s other runner, Soupy Soups, though.  It was great to see him back in the winners’ enclosure and the result gave the day a positive end for Neil.

Full Aux Rois was unable to make the frame for Neil on Monday. but there was a nice performance from The Turtle Said, Neil’s runner at Southwell the following day.  He finished 3rd and hopefully will progress from there as we move through the season.  Neil went even better on the Wednesday with another winner as Runasimi River won at a big price.  Golden Emblem was 3rd of 4 in the same race.  There was another winner for Neil the next day when Malinas Island bounced back with a win at Lingfield.  At Taunton, Molliana was unplaced, as was Masterdream but he nearly made the frame, finishing 4th.

On Friday 26th, Dream Machine was unplaced at Chelmsford for Neil and Cappananty Con, Concierge and Physics were unplaced for Michael, but Mr Moneypenny ran a better race and was 2nd.  Saturday was a case of one runner, one winner for Neil and Brief Times looked very good indeed as he and the second pulled miles clear of the rest of the field.  That was the only runner of the weekend with no runners on Sunday.

Last Monday, True Romance was just outside the places for Neil, but Princess T was third at an each-way price.  Maahi Ve was unplaced for Michael.  Letter at Dawn was also unplaced for Michael at Lingfield the next day.  There were no runners from the yards on Wednesday and Malinas Island was 2nd at Market Rasen for Neil on Thursday when his other runner The Twisler was pulled up at Wincanton.  For Michael, Big Time Maybe was 4th which was a good first run back from a break and he should go well next time.  Unfortunately, neither Sevenofus nor Garincha was unable to make the frame at Exeter for Neil on Friday and on Saturday Concrete King was 5th for Neil at Chepstow and Mister Sweets just missed the places, finishing 4th at Wetherby.
