Weekly Update 11-10-21

Another week ticks by and there is plenty to communicate with updates (both based on chats with the trainers this morning) on both horses.  I was delighted to be able to enter a team in the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity golf day this Friday and Vince, Louise, Dave and I will be doing our best to get the BG Racing team into a respectable position on the leaderboard!

Both horses seem in good form which is especially welcome news in respect of Far Too Beautiful.

Below I will cover:
1 – Future Plans Update
2 – Dynamic Kate Update
3 – Far Too Beautiful Update
4 – Inside The Rails
5 – Runners From Our Stables

If this update gets you interested in ownership, then I would love to hear from you.  Click here for details of shareholder benefits and information on how to get involved.

Future Plans Update

I recently emailed BG Racing shareholders regarding my plans for next year.  Whilst there was some interest in a new horse, there really was not enough for me to consider bringing in another horse without a lot of financial risk on my part.  It is just a chance that I do not want or need to take at the moment, so I have decided not to do anything with this in the immediate future.  As always, I will keep an eye out for opportunities and if something comes along that looks a good fit for BG Racing then I will certainly consider this, but for now we can crack on with the existing two horses.

Our Horses Update

Dynamic Kate

Dynamic Kate ran at Worcester ten days ago and ran well.  I am not sure why the going description was not updated, but the official result that says that she finished 4th on good to soft ground is wildly inaccurate.  It rained heavily for two hours prior to the race but apparently, the ground only softened from good to good to soft in that time!  This was not what the jockeys reported and it was properly soft ground by the time Kate raced which does not suit her.  She ran really well to be 4th on that ground and whilst she was stiff after the race having made a mistake at the last flight in the back straight, she is now back to full form and has been entered at Ffos Las this Saturday in a 0-100 handicap hurdle over 3 miles where there are 36 entries (hopefully the race will divide).  She will also be entered for a similar race restricted to fillies at Plumpton on Monday over 3 miles and 1 furlong.

Far Too Beautiful

We were all ready to run Far Too Beautiful again when she developed a cough!  Michael Attwater is keeping her ticking over as he does not think that this is anything serious and feels that with one or two pieces of faster work once she has recovered, she should be ready to run.

There is a race at Leicester on the 25th and one at Catterick on the 26th.  There is also an all-weather option at Kempton on the 27th and we will look at these in due course.

Inside The Rails

We launched a new episode of Inside The Rails last week. After ten episodes paid for by the Racehorse Syndicates Association, my co-host, Simon, and I have decided to go it alone and run the podcast ourselves.

With that in mind, it is more important than ever that we grow the podcast.  As part of that, I have set up a new twitter account for the podcast https://twitter.com/InsidetheRails with a twitter handle of @InsidetheRails.  If you are a twitter user, then following @InsidetheRails and perhaps liking and retweeting a few of our tweets would be really helpful in ensuring that we can grow our following.

The latest episode is part review of the first ten episodes and partly a look ahead and you can listen to it and all the previous episodes at https://podfollow.com/inside-the-rails.

Runners From Our Stables

Some winners for Neil Mulholland in the last fortnight!  After no runners on Sunday 26th, Eagles First ran well for Neil at Bath the next day but was just outside the places.  Masterdream ran a good race to be placed, but Magical Thomas did not go well and was pulled up.  For Michael Attwater, Cappananty Con was unable to get competitive and was unplaced.

Tuesday was a good day for Neil.  Frau Georgia was 2nd before both Translink and Ballymilan went much better than expected on the soft ground and managed to come home in front.  Ragmuffin was 3rd which meant that Dynamic Kate’s 4th was the worst result Neil had on the day!  There was however no follow up the next day with Viking Ruby for Neil and Rules of Order for Michael both finishing unplaced.

On Thursday 30th, Any News was 2nd on his chasing debut for Neil and Princess T was unplaced later on the Warwick card.  All four of Michael’s Chelmsford runners were unplaced.  Miss Shirley, Vandad, Street Parade and Physics all failed to get competitive at the end of their respective races.  The next day, Neil’s Agent Saonois was unplaced, but No Worries ran well and was 2nd.

After no runners on Saturday, Mister Sweets ran a decent race for Neil to be placed on Sunday, but Milkwood made a disappointing start to chasing and was well beaten.  Paddy Husseys Taxi was also unplaced at Stratford the next day.

On Tuesday 5th, Deputy Jones ran a cracker for Neil but “bumped into one” at Huntingdon.  She beat the remainder comfortably but obviously came up against a very well handicapped horse and could only finish 2nd.  For Michael, Arcadian City was 4th and Letter at Dawn missed the break at Kempton and could not get competitive.  Montaqem was 5th just missing out on the places in the same race.

True Romance was 2nd and Full Aux Rois was unplaced at Sedgefield for Neil the next day and there were two 4th places for Michael at Kempton, where Blue Cable missed the places by a fine margin in a photo and Mr Moneypenny also just failed to make the frame.

Thursday 7th saw excellent performances from both of Neil’s runners at Exeter.  Caroline’s Charm exceeded expectations finishing 2nd at decent odds and First Quest also ran well to finish 3rd also at a nice price.  Lothian finished midfield for Michael at Chelmsford.

There was no joy for Neil at Chepstow on Friday where Soupy Soups, Cesar Et Rosalie and Fingerontheswitch were all unplaced but he has a nice winner on Saturday although not necessarily the most expected one.  Exelerator Express was unplaced at Chepstow, but Chirico Vallis really put his head down and battled to the line to record a narrow win.  Putting Green could not go the pace at Newmarket and was well beaten in the Cesarewitch.

On Sunday, Michael’s Lawn Ranger was unplaced at Goodwood.
