Weekly Update 16-08-21

Far Too Beautiful ran at Nottingham last week finishing in 6th place.

Dynamic Kate has been given an entry today, but there are a few options for her as we will need to see where we can get her into a race.

The summer stable visit to Neil’s was not well attended but proved to be very enjoyable and hopefully, the visit to Michael’s on 25th September is worth getting onto the calendar.

Below I will cover:
1 – Dynamic Kate Update
2 – Far Too Beautiful Update
3 – The New Website
4 – National Racehorse Week
5 – Inside The Rails
6 – Runners From Our Stables

If this update gets you interested in ownership, then I would love to hear from you.  Click here for details of shareholder benefits and information on how to get involved.

Our Horses Update

Dynamic Kate

Dynamic Kate has come out of her Bangor run well and she is ready to run again.  We have entered her today for a race at Worcester this coming Sunday.  The race has however attracted 27 entries and Kate is 23rd or 24th on the list.  With only 11 or 12 runners likely, she may not get in here.

There are a few alternatives options, Fontwell on the 25th, Cartmel on the 30th and Uttoxeter on the 1st and we will look at all of these if she does not get into the Worcester race.

I managed to share some photos from our recent stable visit with shareholders that were unable to attend and took a couple of videos of Kate on the gallops.

Far Too Beautiful

Last week saw Far Too Beautiful run at Nottingham and she moved into 2nd a couple of furlongs out and looked likely to mount a challenge before she plugged on to finish 6th, beaten only 4 lengths.

Far Too Beautiful was very calm pre-race and travelled down to the start well and loaded into the stalls with no fuss.  She then travelled well in the race and she was competitive and this was all positive. Everything set up well for her here, but it is possible that the pace was too slow early on, benefitting others with a finishing kick or alternatively that she did not quite stay the trip at her current stage of development.  She will be a bigger stronger filly next year, so she still has some development to come and we could certainly address the possible pace concern by letting her front run.

The New Website

I guess if you are reading this, then you are already getting to see the look and feel of the new BG Racing website which was launched in August 2021.  Please take a look around by clicking the links above!

12th to 19th September is National Racehorse Week and there are stable and stud open days and other events being booked that week across the country.  If you are interested to see what is going on near you, then check out https://nationalracehorseweek.uk/.  You can enter your postcode to get a list of events near to you.

Inside The Rails

The last episode of the Inside The Rails podcast featured an interview with Stephen Wallis from the Jockey Club.  He was a really interesting guest.  We are recording again in a couple of weeks and I will let you know when the next one is available.  All episodes are available at https://podfollow.com/inside-the-rails and if you enjoy it please tell your friends, so we can grow the reach of the podcast.

From The Stables

On Thursday 5th August, Kingston Kurrajong and Swiss Flamingo were both unplaced for Michael Attwater and on Friday, whilst Cappananty Con was 3rd, he may have had a chance but for being carried across the track by the second.  Minhaaj and Something Lucky were unplaced for Michael the same day and Real Estate ran his best race for a while finishing just outside the places in 4th on Saturday 7th.

After no runners on Sunday for either of our yards, Michael had a surprise winner on Monday.  Lawn Ranger was not at all suited by the ground turning heavy at Windsor, but small fields can generate unusual results and he got an unchallenged lead which he really likes, battling on well to see off two rivals who never really got motoring in the conditions.

Michael had four more runners on Tuesday with Nordic Glory and Letter At Dawn unplaced at Chelmsford and Far Too Beautiful unplaced at Nottingham.  Vandad managed to deliver a second winner in two days for the stable though winning at Lingfield.

Neil Mulholland finally joined the action on Wednesday but Fern Owl, The Twisler and Dream Machine were all unplaced as were Thank The Lord and Prismatic for Michael and the next day, Michael’s runner, Street Parade, was only beaten by half a length but that saw him finish third in a small field.

On Friday, Something Lucky ran at Wolverhampton.  It was announced before the race, that he would be retiring after it, but he failed to get a fairytale finish and was unplaced.

Nina’s Field was unplaced for Neil on Saturday as was Frau Georgia, but Spiders Bite ran well and was placed at a big price.  Ard Up and Cappananty Con were both unplaced for Michael at Bath the same day.  Yesterday, Michael had Maahi Ve racing, but she was unplaced at Chelmsford.
