Weekly Update 17-05-21
I hope that you had a good week? We nearly got a run for Dynamic Kate on Saturday until the wet stuff intervened. Most frustrating!
In this week’s update, I will cover:
1 – Racing Opening Up
2 – Horse Updates
3 – From The Stables
4 – Inside The Rails & New Racing Film
As part of this week’s easing of restrictions, spectators will be permitted at racecourses this week. They will only be able to have 4000 people attending (or 50% of capacity if their capacity is less than 8,000) so the numbers will be limited.
More owners badges should now be available, making it easier for shareholders to come and see the BG Racing horses when they run and hopefully the experience will continue to improve in the coming weeks.
It was a frustrating week for Dynamic Kate as we got her into a race at Bangor on Saturday only to take her out on the morning of the race as the ground was turning soft. We know from her earlier runs that this is less than ideal ground for her and there seemed little point in “wasting” a run in such conditions. Knowing it was the right decision does not make it any less frustrating however and we are now back into the cycle of trying to get her a run! The good news is that Kate is doing very well and is ready to run when we get the opportunity. She looked likely to be 2nd or 3rd favourite on Saturday and she was the Timeform selection, so wherever she runs, she ought to go there with a decent chance.
She has been entered at Worcester on Friday evening, but there are 36 entries and she is 29th on the list. She is unlikely to get into the field, but we will find out on Wednesday. She has also been entered to run at Fakenham on Sunday as a backup option and looks likely to get in there, so fingers crossed that the ground is OK for that race!
If you would like to get involved in what looks to be an exciting next few months, then shares are still available at £260 per 1% share covering all costs to 31st October 2021, with discounts for 5% and 10% purchases.
Great news last Monday when Far Too Beautiful went to Witheford Equine for her stalls session. She was down there for around 90 minutes and by the end of the session she was going into the stalls and jumping out when they opened without any real concerns. The guys learned what helped her and her confidence grew as well, such that they were having very few problems at the end of the session. We have asked the Witheford guys to come to the racecourse when she runs for the first time so that they can load her into the stalls for us and with that in mind she was entered her to run on Thursday (20th May) at Lingfield Park.
The entries for that have been published and if she is declared, she will definitely get into the race. Declarations are tomorrow morning and the plan is to run her here, unless there are any problems before then.
If you want to get involved before she starts to race, then shares are £247 for a 1% shareholding covering all costs to 31st December 2021 and there are discounts for purchases of 5% and 10%.
All shareholders receive weekly updates, stable visits, owners badges when the horse runs and your share of prizemoney. You can contact me via the website contact page if you want any more information and I will be very happy to correspond by email or schedule a call.
It was a disappointing day last Monday as Mont Saint Vincent, Shantou Village and Agent Saonois were all unplaced for Neil Mulholland at Ffos Las and both Hereia and First Quest suffered the same fate at Southwell. For Michael Attwater, Fujaira King was unplaced as was Pink Flamingo, but Vandad ran well to finish 2nd. There were no runners from our yards on Tuesday and on Wednesday, Neil’s No Fixed Charges was probably booked for 2nd when pitching forward at the last flight and taking a tumble. Kahina Rules, Cesar Et Rosalie, Cremant, Jaunty Soria and Fern Owl were all unplaced with Jaunty Soria doing the best of them, just outside the places in 4th.
Sky Central and Eagles First were unplaced at Salisbury on Thursday for Neil and at Fontwell, Glendruid was just outside the places in 4th and Test Ride was unplaced but Magical Thomas ran a nice race to be 2nd and Blumen Glory finished 3rd at an each-way price. Friday saw another three runners for Neil, with Mister Sweets 2nd at Aintree where Princess T was unplaced in 5th. Quarter Blue was also unplaced at Newbury. Michael had a nice winner at Newbury though when his runner, Concierge came from last to first to win his race.
Neil matched that on Saturday when Lord Accord finishing in front at Uttoxeter edging out the favourite by a head in photo. Miss Jeanne Moon was 2nd at Bangor, but Molly Carew, Hidden Depths, No Worries and Just Henny were all unplaced at Uttoxeter. Michael ran Minhaaj at Newmarket, but she never looked comfortable and was unplaced.
We are recording a new episode of Inside The Rails which is due to feature an interview with film director Euros Lyn. Euros directed the movie Dream Horse which will be released shortly and tells the story of a syndicate owned horse, Dream Alliance, who won the Welsh Grand National in 2009. All episodes of the podcast can be accessed at the following link: https://podfollow.com/inside-the-rails.
If you are interested in finding out more about racehorse ownership, then please do get in touch as I would be delighted to discuss things with you.
I issue weekly shareholder updates (which go into more detail than the blog) and frequent updates on social media. Feel free to like the FaceBook page and follow the Twitter updates.
I also have an e-book entitled “Racehorse Ownership – Everything You Might Have Wanted To Know But Would Not Have Known Who To Ask“. This is free and the download page can be accessed here.
Have a great week.
